The fresh ocean breeze at sunrise, the stories born on the deck, the unforgettable pursuit of the Couta – This is the annual Couta Carnaval at St Lucia
Anglers from all over have been checking and double-checking their gear and tackle, ensuring their boat is fuelled up and ready to go, and planning out the perfect strategy to go toe to fin with the mighty Couta.
That’s right, the Couta Carnaval is back.
Couta Carnaval 2024 Prizes
With R50’000 in awesome prizes up for grabs, two solid days of Couta Mania await. Not to mention spending time with family and friends out on the water for the long Easter weekend.
Couta Carnaval 2024 Dates & Time
The weekend already starts on Friday the 29th of March with registration at 5 PM, followed by the briefing at 7 PM.
And then the fishing gets going at first light with anglers launching after the boom opens nice and early at 5 AM on Saturday the 30th of March and Sunday the 31st of March.
Please note that all Boats, Jetskis & Kayaks are welcome, and anglers can only launch from the St Lucia launching site.
The scales will open between 2PM – 3PM on Saturday and 1PM – 2PM on Sunday for you te weigh your catch, with the official Couta Carnaval prize giving happening on Sunday at 4h30 PM.

Entries (R800 per person) for the Couta Carnaval already closed on the 18th of March 2024, however, late entries are still being accepted and cost R1’100 per person. Please contact the Tournament Officer for more info.
