Expect sail- and gamefish interprovincials from Mapelane to Sodwana. Junior development in Port Elizabeth and, of course, the big Ski-Boat Festival in Shelly Beach. It’s a mixed bag of game- and bottom fishing competitions this June, kicking off with several teams from Gauteng setting out for an interclub tournament in Mozambique.

This annual game fish tournament lets you enter a boat and anglers, or with a jet-ski. It’s hosted by the Southern Gauteng Deep Sea Angling Association and the Guinjata Sports Fishing Club (in Germiston) in Guinjata Bay in Mozambique, about 6 hours’ drive north-east from Maputo. One of the country’s best-known winter gamefish competitions, this festival enjoys a lot of support – there were over 150 anglers fishing it in 2018 – and there are loads o prizes to be won. It takes place in East London this year, hosted by Border Deep Sea Angling Association.
