Final Results: Sport Fishing World Games in SA

15 World angling championship games taking place all around the country. And all the world’s best anglers gathered in SA for one global fishing event. From long casting and coarse fishing to fly fishing, carp, bass, big game, freshwater, shore angling and feeder fishing. It’s all here as South Africa hosts the fourth Sport Fishing World Games 2019 in February.

SOUTH AFRICA WELCOMES THE FISHING WORLD

Hosted by the South Africa Sport Anglers & Casting Federation (SASACC), with SADSAA assisting on the boat fishing side, in South Africa throughout February 2019. The fourth-ever Sport Fishing World Games is an international fishing body CIPS (associated with FIPS-M) world championship event. And you can expect to see some of the world’s best anglers in action around the country.

The competition comprises a massive central opening ceremony and parade on 9 February 2019 in Sandton, Johannesburg, and then 15 different world championship fishing events around the country. All taking place in South Africa during the month of February 2019.

The Sport Fishing World Games 2019 opening ceremony took place in Nelson Mandela Square and the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 9 February 2019. You can watch a recording of the ceremony here.

15 WORLD FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ONE

After the opening ceremony, the various fishing teams headed out to different locations around the country for individual fishing world games tournaments. There are 15 competing classes: And the first results are in:

SPORT FISHING WORLD GAMES: INITIAL RESULTS

The first seven of 15 championship tournament results are in, and South Africa has so far managed two golds, as well as one silver and bronze finish. There’s a mixed bag of top finishers, with the likes of the Hungary and Italy having also each taken two golds. But the one to watch is most certainly Spain, who have already taken four gold medals. Here are some of the initial results:
